The qiang is the most common long-handled spear used by Chinese soldiers. It is one of the earliest known battle weapons and was known as “the king of a thousand soldiers.” In Shen Yun’s The Loyalty of Yue Fei, the great Song Dynasty general is seen bravely brandishing the qiang while leading his troops to defend China from invasion.
Mao – Heavy Spear
A variation on the common spear, the mao is heavier than the qiang, with a less flexible pole. The mao’s blade has several sharp ends.
